This Macau watercolor print shows the stone facade of the Ruins of St Paul's at the top of its grand staircase, with Monte Fort on the hill and wave-pattern calçada underfoot. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Macau, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines detail the statues, columns and niches on the facade, and the black-and-white wave paving is drawn with careful linework. Granite gray-beige anchors the palette, joined by pale yellow and pastel pink colonial houses, leafy green, mint shutters and pink bougainvillea. The facade stands at center at the top of the steps with its cross in the upper third, Monte Fort and its cannons sit on the hill at right, and pastel houses line both sides. Bougainvillea spills in at the left edge, and blue drips run down the right. "MACAU" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Calçada paving. The wavy Portuguese pavement is drawn stone by stone across the foreground.
- Pigeons on the square. Pigeons gather below while visitors rest on the stone steps.
- Mint-green shutters. Iron balconies and shutters add color beside the facade.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The pastels and warm stone suit an entryway, living room or sunny breakfast nook, especially with blush, sage or cream decor. It is a lovely gift for someone with Macanese or Portuguese family ties, or a memento of a Macau trip.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Macau? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the Ruins of St Paul's and its surroundings, combining several Macau sights into one composed scene.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "MACAU," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
