A cocktail wall art print with a straight face: a finely engraved bird has landed on the rim of a coupe and dipped its head into the drink.
About the artwork
The bird and the glass are cut in the old engraving manner, one olive-green ink with the shading built entirely from hatching — close strokes for the feathers, longer curved ones across the bowl of the glass, and a thin scatter of horizontal lines beneath the foot standing in for a shadow. The bird perches on the right of the rim with its head down and its tail and one wing cocked high to the upper right. A single olive rests at the bottom of the bowl, near the stem. Over all this, BRUNCH is laid across the glass in a thick pink brush stroke, and a thin black script sits just beneath it. Two centuries collide on purpose.
Why you'll love it
- Engraving, not clip art. Every tone is built from hatched line, no flat fill anywhere.
- A joke told deadpan. The bird is drinking, and nothing in the drawing acknowledges it.
- Pink over olive. One bright modern stroke cutting across an antique plate.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This one belongs near drinks rather than food — over a bar cart, beside a drinks cabinet, or in a hallway where guests pass on the way to the table. The olive ink is quiet enough for a busy room and the pink gives it just enough lift. Walnut and espresso frames suit the antique half; white keeps it light.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What does it say? BRUNCH, and beneath it the line “And take a bar”, copied exactly as printed on the artwork.
Is the bird a real species? It is drawn from an antique engraving rather than identified — treat it as a bird, not a named species.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
