This Beijing watercolor print shows a Forbidden City corner tower on its red walls, above a frozen moat dusted with snow. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Beijing, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
The palace walls are layered in thin vermilion washes, and the multi-tiered roofs are edged in gold with snow left as bare paper. The frozen moat is white paper mixed with blue-gray strokes and red reflections, and bare willows hang in thin brown ink. Imperial vermilion, snow white and ice blue lead the palette, with golden glazed tiles and the tawny gold of willows as accents. The three-tier corner tower sits right of center, the wall runs left with yellow roofs behind it and Jingshan Park with its hilltop pavilion rises in the background. Red-blue drips and splatter fade into the white border of this winter scene. "BEIJING" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Snow on golden roofs. Fresh snow rests on the yellow glazed tiles of the corner tower.
- Photographer at the moat. A photographer with a tripod and walkers in warm coats, one in red, follow the snowy path.
- Frozen reflections. Red walls reflect on the icy moat between patches of white snow.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The red, white and gold palette stands out in a living room, a dining room or an entryway with dark wood. It is a striking gift for someone who studied in Beijing or loves Chinese architecture.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Beijing? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Beijing, painted in watercolor and ink and arranged for the composition rather than taken from one exact spot.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "BEIJING," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
