A Zytglogge Bern poster looking straight down the old town street: arcaded houses running away on both sides, flags hanging from their walls, and the clock tower planted square across the end of the view with its archway open beneath.
About the artwork
Strict one-point perspective, and the tower is the vanishing point. The cobbles are drawn in fans of grey and putty that widen as they come toward you, with long shadows raking in from the left. Either side, the arcades march back in shortening bays — round stone arches, awnings, first-floor shutters, window boxes, a bicycle against a wall — all in olive, sage and sandstone. Overhead, catenary wires cross the sky carrying bell-shaped lamps, a detail that fills the empty upper third without crowding it. The tower itself is the set piece: grey-green stone, a red tile roof, a slim spire, a small gallery at the top, and two dials on the face — a large astronomical one in red, gold and blue, and a plainer clock below it above the arch. Red and white flags punctuate both sides. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Switzerland beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Perspective you can feel. Every line in the street points at the clock, so the print pulls the eye deep.
- The painted dial. Red and gold against grey-green stone, the one warm spot in a cool picture.
- Strung lamps overhead. They give the sky something to do and keep the composition from going empty.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The teal sky and olive stone make it a good fit for rooms with green or grey-blue paint, and it looks sharp on plain white too. Put it where someone walks toward it — the end of a hall, a stair wall, above a sideboard — so the perspective can do its work. Black frames suit the tower; natural oak softens the whole street. It sits well beside the Stein am Rhein print as a Swiss old-town pair.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Is the whole street shown? A long stretch of it, drawn in perspective from the middle of the cobbles up to the tower arch at the far end.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
