A Westminster Big Ben poster caught late in the day from across the water: the long honey-coloured palace laid out along the far bank, the clock tower standing over it with both faces lit, and the whole thing running back down into the river as broken gold.
About the artwork
The picture is cut cleanly in two, and the trick is the temperature change across that line. Above, everything is warm — the stone drawn in amber, apricot and deep honey, the pinnacles, spires and the fretted line of the roof crest all picked out, tall traceried windows in shadow, a flagpole on the corner tower. The clock tower is given its full detail: the pale dials, the dark ironwork stage below them, the steep roof and the small gilded finial at the top. A road bridge with low arches carries in from the left. Below the parapet the river takes over in deep teal and near-black, painted as flat horizontal strokes, and down it fall two long columns of amber reflection that wobble and break as they come towards you. The sky is a plain, cool blue. London is the only place name on the sheet, in wide-tracked uppercase with England beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Gold against near-black water. The strongest contrast of any print in the London group.
- Stonework drawn window by window. The whole river frontage rewards a close look.
- Half the picture is reflection. Unusual for a city view, and it is what makes it restful.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is the evening print of the three, and it likes a darker room. Ink blue, deep green or charcoal walls make the amber glow properly, and it belongs over a sideboard, in a dining room or above a desk with a brass lamp. Walnut and aged brass suit it better than pale wood; an espresso or black frame keeps the water deep. Give it a wall of its own rather than crowding it into a grid.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Is the clock tower named on the print? No. The only words printed are London and England — the tower and palace are identified by the drawing alone.
Does it repeat the other London prints in the store? No. Each London design in the store shows a different scene, and this is the only one taken at sunset from the river.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
