A Wawel Castle travel poster from the far bank: the castle and cathedral standing on their limestone bluff in red brick and pale stone, verdigris copper domes and a slim gold-topped spire above them, and the Vistula filling the whole bottom half of the frame in moving blue water.
About the artwork
An unusual composition for a landmark print — the subject occupies only the upper quarter and the river takes everything else. That works because the water is drawn properly: long horizontal strokes in six or seven values of blue and steel, with fine pale highlights running across the surface, so the lower half has as much to look at as the upper. Above the waterline the castle is compressed but precise, with the arcaded wings, the round bastion towers and the cathedral's mixed roofline of green copper and red tile all separated. Behind it the town flattens into a warm band of roofs, and the sky graduates from teal at the top to pale gold at the horizon. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Poland beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The river is half the picture. A brave composition that gives the print unusual calm.
- Verdigris and brick. Green copper against warm red is Krakow's exact colour signature.
- Low horizon, big sky. It hangs well above furniture because the subject sits high in the frame.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Blue-dominant and quiet, which makes it easy to place on white, grey or soft green walls. Because the castle sits in the top quarter, hang it a little lower than usual so the subject lands at eye level. Natural oak keeps it light; black gives the water more weight. It pairs well with another river-and-city print rather than a second castle.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is the view from? From the opposite bank of the river, looking across the open water at the castle on its bluff.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
