About the artwork

Blue violet on periwinkle, one ink throughout. Three dogwood blooms open flat across the middle of the stamp, each built from four broad petals that pinch into a notch at the tip, with one bud still tight beside them. A fern ornament fills the lower-left corner and the 1¢ denomination sits in a circle opposite. The perforated edge is drawn as real die-cut scallops on a plain cream sheet, so the stamp sits on the page as an object. Portrait, 2:3.
