A Virginia Beach travel poster taken along the surf line. Lines of white water peel in across deep blue Atlantic and run out over a wide band of warm gold sand. Up the beach the boardwalk begins, marked by the tall green bronze figure of Neptune with his trident, and the oceanfront hotel strip runs away to the horizon behind him.
About the artwork
Flat vector illustration with hard-edged shapes and a strict three-colour idea: cerulean sky, two blues for the water — a deep teal offshore and a paler turquoise in the shallows — and a broad ochre-gold beach. Foam is drawn as flat white shapes with feathered edges rather than texture, and thin darker lines rake across the wet sand where the last wave pulled back. The Neptune figure is a verdigris silhouette raised on a plinth at the boardwalk, and the hotels behind are simplified into cream and sand-coloured blocks. Two tiny walkers give the beach its scale. Type at the top is thin white capitals reading VIRGINIA BEACH with VIRGINIA letterspaced beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The Neptune figure — the boardwalk statue anchors the print to this beach rather than any stretch of Atlantic coast.
- Two thirds water — the surf carries the composition, so it reads as calm from across a room.
- Real beach colour — warm ochre sand against cold blue, not the mint-and-white palette every coastal print uses.
- The strip in the distance — hotels and boardwalk are there, small, which keeps it a resort beach and not an empty shore.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Blue and ochre are an easy pair for bedrooms — it looks right above the white canopy bed in the photographs above, and again on the pale wood-grain wall. White, sand or soft grey walls let the water stay bright; rattan, bleached oak and white linen finish it. A white or natural frame keeps it airy, while black sharpens the horizon if the wall is dark.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Wide surf reads well large — 30" x 40" above a bed. In a bathroom or entry, 12" x 18" still holds the wave lines clearly.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame, wired and ready to hang.
What does the poster say? VIRGINIA BEACH across the top, with VIRGINIA letterspaced beneath it. No other text appears on the artwork.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
