A Virgin Islands National Park impasto oil painting, reproduced as a wide 3:2 print: a crescent of white sand curving around turquoise and sapphire water toward a green-topped rocky islet and distant blue islands, a leafy tree overhanging the right.
About the artwork
The beach sweeps from the bottom center to the right, water fills the left half and the tree frames the right edge. Smooth, wide knife passes lay in water and sand, with thicker textured leaves. Much of St. John was donated by Laurance Rockefeller to create the park in 1956.
Why you'll love it
- Deep sapphire. Turquoise shallows and deep blue water under a tropical sun.
- Room-filling sizes. Eleven wide sizes, up to 54" x 36" on paper and 48" x 32" on canvas.
- Texture without the upkeep. The brushwork is part of the image, so the print surface stays smooth and easy to dust.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, color-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Eleven sizes in all, A4 to A1 included: 12" x 8" to 54" x 36".
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 18" x 12" to 48" x 32".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 18" x 12" to 48" x 32".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Hang it in a beach house, a bathroom or a bright bedroom. Turquoise, sapphire and white pair with rattan and linen; a white frame keeps it bright.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the color, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Which size works above a sofa? For a standard three-seat sofa, 36" x 24" or 48" x 32". The smaller sizes suit a console, a desk or a hallway.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
How is this different from your other Virgin Islands prints? This is the textured impasto version: a white sand crescent on turquoise water. The smoother classical oil painting is a separate design, as are the vintage travel poster, WPA, screen print, retro, mid-century, panoramic, watercolor, illustrated and landmark Virgin Islands prints.
Is it a real oil painting? No. It is a high-resolution print of an oil painting; the brushwork is part of the image and the surface is smooth.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
