A Villa Rufolo Ravello poster seen from under the cloister arch: a rough sandstone pier in the foreground, two tiled garden towers below among masses of magenta bougainvillea, and the sea running out to a hazy headland far below.
About the artwork
The arch is used as a frame within the frame. Its pier takes up most of the left side, drawn close enough to read the rubble stone and the dressed blocks of the voussoirs, and it deliberately blocks part of the view, which pushes the water back and makes the drop feel real. An umbrella pine leans in from the top right and closes the gap. Between them the garden falls away in ledges: clipped box hedges in dark green, gravel paths, and bougainvillea laid on in solid magenta and rose that swallows whole walls. The two towers below have ribbed tiled caps and arched openings, sitting lower than your feet. The sea is turquoise near the shore and deep blue further out, scattered with pale flecks where the sun catches, and the coast beyond is drawn in rose and ochre rock with olive scrub. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Italy beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The garden comes first. Flowers, hedges and old stone in the near ground, with the famous view behind them.
- Magenta against turquoise. A bold, saturated pairing you rarely get in a coastal print.
- Height you can feel. Everything below the arch drops away, so the print reads as a view from a terrace.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Rich enough to hold a dark wall — deep green, ink blue or a warm olive all take it, and the magenta reads far better against those than against plain white. Think bedroom, landing or a shaded reading corner rather than a bright kitchen. Velvet, brass and older polished wood suit it. A gold frame belongs with the sandstone and the tiled domes; espresso is the quieter option. It sits well with the Sorrento or Taormina prints as a southern coast group.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What is the stone arch in the foreground? A pier and arch from the villa's old cloister. It frames the view and gives the drawing a near edge to measure the distance against.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.

- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
