A vik iceland poster from the hillside above the sea: a small white church with a red roof and pointed steeple standing alone on the crest, a whole foreground of grass bending in the wind, and the dark Atlantic breaking along the coast below.
About the artwork
The grass is the subject as much as the church is. It fills the bottom two thirds of the frame and is drawn stroke by stroke — thousands of individual blades in yellow-green, olive and near-black, all leaning the same way, so you can see which direction the wind is coming from. Against that mass of movement the church is small, still and hard-edged: white boards, a saturated red roof, a red weathervane on the spire. The sea is worked in deep teal and navy with white surf drawn as fine curling lines, and a dark headland with sea stacks sits on the horizon. A steep green cliff closes the right-hand side. Warm red against cold blue-green, and a single man-made object in an entirely natural frame. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Iceland beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Grass you can feel the wind in. Drawn blade by blade, all leaning one way.
- One red roof. A single warm accent in a green and blue picture, and it carries the whole composition.
- Green-dominant landscape. Rare in a travel print, and it suits rooms where blue would be too cold.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The green reads fresh rather than heavy, which makes this a natural fit for a living room, sunroom or bedroom with plants in it. It sits well on cream, chalk and warm white walls and beside linen, rattan and pale wood. Natural oak frames follow the grass; a white frame keeps it airy. It pairs directly with the Reynisfjara print, which shows the black beach below this same headland.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What is the little church? The clifftop church above Vik i Myrdal on Iceland's south coast, seen from the grass slope behind it with the sea stacks out to the west.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
