A Valensole lavender poster from down between the rows: two banks of violet bushes curving away over stony ground, a small stone farm building on the ridge, and one round-canopied oak beside it under a hard blue sky.
About the artwork
The whole thing is built on a single contrast, violet against dry ochre. The furrow between two rows runs straight out of the bottom edge and carries your eye to the horizon; the ground in it is pale cracked limestone and gravel, drawn stone by stone at the front, with bleached grasses spilling over the margins. The lavender is done in short upright strokes in three or four purples, red-violet in the flowering tops and cooler blue down the shadowed sides, so each bush reads as a soft mass. The rows narrow and tighten as they recede, and that is what gives the field its depth. On the skyline a small dry-stone cabanon sits in a strip of gold stubble — bare walls, one door, one window, a low pitched roof — with the broad oak to its right, a line of cypress, and blue hills beyond. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with France beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Down in the furrow. The low viewpoint between two rows is what gives the field its pull, rather than a flat view across it.
- Violet and ochre. A strong, simple colour pair that carries across a room and still looks calm up close.
- The little cabanon. One small stone hut on the ridge sets the scale of the whole plateau.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The purple is deep rather than sweet, so it works in a bedroom, a bathroom or a hallway with warm white, oatmeal or pale grey walls. It sits well with linen, dried grasses and unfinished wood. Natural oak frames warm the ochre; black frames make the violet more graphic. It hangs naturally with the Eze coastal view as a France pair, or with any other field or garden print in the collection.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Why does the print say Provence? The title names the region; the plateau drawn here is Valensole, where the lavender is planted in long rows that run right to the horizon.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
