A Topeka Kansas travel poster drawn from above the treetops. The limestone capitol fills the right of the frame — steep verdigris mansard roofs, arched colonnades, and a ribbed copper dome carrying a lantern and a thin spire. Below it, gravel paths, flowerbeds and mown lawn run down the block, and the city flattens out to prairie at the horizon.
About the artwork
Flat vector illustration with soft, hard-edged shading rather than line work. The palette is muted and green-leaning: pale limestone cream, verdigris and copper-brown for the roofs and dome, olive and sage for the grass and shade, dusty pink and lilac for the flowerbeds, and a hazy blue-green sky that fades to gold over the plains. The elevated angle is the point — you look down onto the roofs and along the diagonal of the path, with tree canopies cutting into both edges. Type at the top is thin white capitals reading TOPEKA with KANSAS letterspaced beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Copper and verdigris — the weathered dome and green roofs give the print a colour you rarely see in city art.
- A view from above — the raised angle shows the whole grounds, not just a facade.
- Prairie at the edge — the flat gold horizon behind the town is honestly Kansas.
- Planting detail — the pink and lilac beds along the walks keep it warm rather than official.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Verdigris green and limestone cream are quiet colours, so this one works on sage, putty or warm white walls — the sage room in the photographs above suits it almost exactly. Brass, aged bronze and unpainted wood pick up the copper in the dome. Avoid a stark black frame if the wall is cool grey; natural oak or espresso keeps the greens from going flat.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? There is a lot of small architectural detail, so go up if you can — 24" x 36" or 30" x 40". Below 12" x 18" the colonnades and flowerbeds start to blur together.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. The framed canvas option arrives in a solid wood floating frame, wired and ready to hang.
What does the poster say? TOPEKA across the top, with KANSAS letterspaced beneath it. Nothing else is printed on the artwork.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
