A Tihany travel poster from the lavender slope above the lake: rows of purple flower heads on white limestone, thatched cottages climbing the ridge, and the white twin-towered abbey standing over a huge sheet of turquoise water.
About the artwork
Two thirds landscape, one third water, with the diagonal of the limestone bluff holding them apart. The foreground is dense lavender, drawn stem by stem in violet and deep purple with dry gold grass pushing up between the rows and pale broken rock showing through. Above it the cliff drops in blocky white and cream ledges to boulders in the shallows. On the ridge sit a cluster of village houses under steep reed-thatched roofs in warm ochre, their gable ends dark, with poplars and scrub between them. Higher still, the abbey: white walls, a red-brown roof and two slim towers capped with onion lanterns. The lake fills the right half, turquoise close in and deepening to green-blue, ruled across by a long band of sun glitter, with the far shore reduced to a flat grey-green line under a hazy, streaked sky. Titled Tihany in wide-tracked uppercase with Hungary beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Purple against turquoise. Two colours that rarely meet, held apart by a white limestone cliff.
- Thatch and onion domes. Village roofs and abbey towers in the same frame.
- A lake wide enough to read as sea. Balaton takes up the whole right side.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Soft, warm and floral without being sweet, which makes it a natural bedroom print — above a headboard or on the wall you see first in the morning. Chalk white, oatmeal and lilac-grey walls all flatter the lavender, and it holds its own against a dusty mauve accent wall. Linen bedding, a rush stool and a small ceramic jug are the right company. A white or limed-oak frame keeps it gentle; walnut warms the thatch. It pairs with the Berat print for a warm-stone hillside wall.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Is that the sea on the right? No — it is Lake Balaton, wide enough that the far shore shows only as a thin line along the horizon.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
