A taormina travel poster drawn from the top of the old hillside theatre, with broken brick arches standing in the middle distance, the coast running away below and the snow-capped volcano trailing a plume across the upper third of the sheet.
About the artwork
Three subjects share the frame and each gets its own colour family. The foreground, filling the bottom right corner, is the theatre's curved seating: bleached limestone blocks drawn one by one, rounded and pitted, with dry grass and thistle pushing up between them. Above that stand the ruins, in warm rust and terracotta brick, with a tall arched opening, two slender columns still upright inside it, and a broken wall pierced by round-headed windows to the left. Their masonry is drawn course by course and the shadows inside the arches are plum rather than grey. On the left the sea is a flat navy panel with a thin surf line, and the coast behind curves back in bands of rose and dusty pink with the town scattered along the shore. The volcano closes the top: pale blue flanks streaked with lava scars, a snow-covered cone, and a cream plume bending right. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Italy beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Ruins and a volcano in one frame. Very few views give you an ancient theatre and an active mountain at the same time.
- Terracotta against navy. The rust brickwork and the dark sea are what make this print read from a distance.
- The seating rows. The stepped stone in the foreground is drawn block by block, and it gives the image real depth.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Warm, dry and earthy, so it goes where the palette is already warm: clay, olive, warm white or a soft ochre wall. It sits well in a dining room or a living room above a low sideboard, next to ceramic, jute, aged wood and anything with a rough surface. Espresso and walnut frames pick up the brickwork; a natural oak frame keeps it lighter and lets the sea stand out. It makes a Sicilian and southern Italian group with the Ravello or Sorrento prints.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What is the pale cloud on the mountain? The volcano's plume, drawn as a soft cream cloud lifting off the cone and bending to the right in the wind.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
