A Stratford upon Avon poster made from under the trees on the riverbank: a weeping willow hanging right across the left of the frame, the Avon running quiet below it, and a long black-and-white timbered house sitting on the far bank in full sun.
About the artwork
The willow is the whole left half and it is drawn with real patience — dozens of separate trailing fronds in lime, yellow-green and deep olive, layered so you can see through them in places to the sky behind, the ends dipping until they almost touch the water. Under it the river is painted in short horizontal strokes, dark green where the tree shades it and stepping out to clear rippled blue in the open, with the willow's own reflection smeared along the surface. Across the water the timbered house takes the centre: steep gabled roofs, black frames against white plaster panels, a row of tall brick chimney stacks and mullioned windows, hedges and a mown lawn in front, mature trees massing behind it. Small figures stand on the towpath by a moored boat. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with England beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The willow is the star. Every frond drawn separately, which is what gives the print its texture.
- Timber framing in detail. Gables, chimney stacks and window mullions all legible up close.
- Green on blue, nothing loud. A gentle print that still has plenty to look at.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Soft and leafy, so it belongs somewhere you slow down — a bedroom, a study, a landing with a window nearby. It suits sage, warm white and pale putty walls, and sits well with linen, cane and antique oak. A natural oak frame melts into the greens; a soft white frame keeps it fresh and modern. It works as part of a quiet English countryside grouping with the store's other river and village prints.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Is the town centre shown? No — this is the river reach below the town, with one riverside house, the towpath and the willows rather than the streets.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
