A Stavanger travel poster from inside the old wooden quarter: a narrow cobbled lane running uphill between white clapboard houses, red pantile roofs against a hard blue sky, and flowers spilling out of every basket and window box.
About the artwork
A one-point perspective down a lane barely wide enough for two people. Both sides are white-painted timber, and the drawing keeps every board of the cladding, so the walls read as fine horizontal stripes with crisp shadow lines under each eave. The doors and window frames are painted turquoise, which is the colour that ties the whole print together — it answers the sky. Red clay pantiles run along the tops in ridged rows. On the left, a hanging basket of deep pink blooms tumbles almost to head height, with a bank of red-pink shrub roses beside a flight of rough stone steps and a white window box further along. A slim street lamp arcs over the middle. The cobbles are laid in fans and patched with flat slabs, warm ochre where the sun lands, cool grey-blue where the buildings shade them. Titled Stavanger in wide-tracked uppercase with Norway beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Turquoise doors on white timber. A small, specific colour note repeated all the way down the lane.
- Flowers with somewhere to grow. Baskets, boxes and shrub roses, not decorative filler.
- A tall, narrow view. The lane's own shape suits the 2:3 sheet exactly.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Bright and clean rather than moody, so it does well in daylight rooms and stairwells. Chalk white, soft blue-grey and pale sage walls all work, and it looks especially settled on painted panelling. Keep the surroundings simple — white ceramics, a woven runner, one green plant — and let the pink flowers be the only strong colour. A white or off-white frame keeps it airy; black turns it graphic. It hangs well beside the Arctic Cathedral print from Tromsø.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Is this a real street? It is drawn from the old wooden lanes of the town, where white weatherboard houses and cobbled alleys run up from the harbour.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
