A Skopje travel poster looking upriver from the paved embankment: the old arched stone bridge crossing the water, the long crenellated fortress walls on the bluff above the old town, and a bare mountain closing the view behind.
About the artwork
Built in receding layers, each one a flatter, paler value than the last. The foreground is a sand-coloured riverside promenade in the bottom left, drawn as a grid of large paving slabs with a strip of grass and slim lamp standards, sliding into cool shadow at the very front. The river runs from the bottom right corner into the middle distance in deep teal, with white boulders showing through the shallows. The bridge spans it on a run of round arches with cutwaters between them and lamps along the parapet. Above and left, the fortress: long pale curtain walls and squared towers on a rocky green bluff, with the red pantile roofs of the old town and a slim minaret gathered below. A domed portico building stands at the right edge. Behind everything, a dry grey-green mountain with masts on its summit. Titled Skopje in wide-tracked uppercase with North Macedonia beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Depth in four planes. Promenade, river, bridge, fortress and mountain, each set back a step.
- A dusty, muted palette. Sage, chalk, dusty blue and terracotta rather than postcard brightness.
- A Balkan capital most walls have never seen. Ottoman bridge and hilltop citadel in one frame.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The soft, chalky colours make this an easy living-room print — it settles into a room rather than dominating it. Sage green, olive-grey and warm stone walls suit it best, and it stays calm against linen sofas, jute and pale ceramics. Pale ash or a thin white frame keeps the misty distance airy; black is heavier than the picture wants. It sits well beside the Blagaj Tekke print, since both share river water and pale rock.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is the viewpoint? From the paved embankment on the near bank, looking across and upstream to the bridge with the fortress hill beyond it.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
