A Skogafoss travel poster from the riverbed below: the waterfall dropping in one wide unbroken curtain between dark cliffs, a rainbow standing in the spray on the left, and a shallow river running out toward the viewer over black boulders.
About the artwork
Nearly monochrome, and then one deliberate exception. The cliffs are drawn in near-black and cold grey with moss and grass along the rim in acid green; the falling water is a single sheet described with hundreds of fine vertical strokes, denser at the edges and paler where the light passes through it. The river below is broken into shapes of steel blue and white foam, with every wet boulder given a dark top and a bright rim. Against all that grey the rainbow is the only saturated passage in the frame — red through violet, drawn as clean flat bands, standing in the spray. It is a risky choice and it is what makes the print. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Iceland beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The rainbow is the whole image. One band of colour in an otherwise grey frame.
- Water top and bottom. The falls and the river give the print movement from edge to edge.
- Cold and graphic. Reads clearly from a distance and rewards a close look at the spray.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Because the print is mostly grey, it sits on almost any wall colour and the rainbow will pick up whatever warm tone is already in the room. It works in a bathroom, a hallway or a home office. Black frames match the cliffs; natural oak warms the whole thing up. It makes a three-print Iceland set with Kirkjufell and Blue Lagoon, and it is the loudest of the three despite having the least colour.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is the view from? From the stones of the riverbed a little downstream, looking straight at the face of the falls.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
