A Sioux Falls South Dakota poster taken from river level, where the Big Sioux River drops in steps over broad pink quartzite ledges and throws up white water, while a tall white arch with cable stays carries a bridge across the river and the low downtown buildings sit on the far bank.
About the artwork
Flat vector shapes with hard-edged layering, most obvious in the water, which is built from stacked bands of cream, pale blue, steel blue and near-navy rather than blended tone. The rock is the centre of the palette: dusky rose and salmon quartzite in thick slabs, each ledge given its own shade so the steps read clearly. Above that sit a soft blue sky with thin streaked clouds, a green riverbank, and glass-and-concrete buildings in mint and warm sand. The white arch and its fan of cables cut across the upper half. Printed in white capitals: SIOUX FALLS, with SOUTH DAKOTA below. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Pink rock you can only get here — the quartzite ledges are the reason the falls look like nothing else in the Midwest, and they take up half the print.
- Water drawn as shape — the rapids are built from flat cut bands, which keeps the movement graphic rather than muddy.
- River and city together — the arch and the downtown block put the falls in their actual urban setting.
- An unusual colour pairing — rose stone against cold blue water, warm and cool in the same frame.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The rose and blue palette is soft enough for a bedroom and reads well against the white panelled wall and the pale plaster in the photographs above. It also sits nicely on dusty pink or warm grey. A pale oak or white frame keeps it airy; a gold frame picks up the salmon in the rock if you want it warmer.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The layered water bands look best with room to breathe, so 24" x 36" over a bed or sofa is the strongest choice. At 16" x 24" the rock steps still read clearly in a smaller room.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship rolled and unframed. Matte canvas arrives stretched and ready to hang, and framed canvas adds a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What are the pink rocks? They are Sioux quartzite, the rose-coloured stone the river cuts through in the middle of the city. The bridge behind them is drawn as a white steel arch with cable stays.
What does the poster say? SIOUX FALLS in large white capitals, with SOUTH DAKOTA set smaller directly below.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
