A Japanese wave print for a living room that wants warmth and movement. Stylized waves in orange, cream, navy and red roll under swirling clouds, their foam picked out in white dots. The lettering, SEIJAKU and 静寂, means stillness, and it is set against all that motion on purpose.
About the artwork
Four colors do the work: orange, cream, navy and red, with white used for the dotted foam. The waves are stylized into curling shapes in the ukiyo-e manner, and swirling clouds repeat the curl in the sky, so the whole sheet moves in one rhythm. The foam dots break up the solid color and add texture. The lettering reads SEIJAKU with 静寂, which means stillness, a quiet word placed on a lively scene. Portrait.
Why you'll love it
- A calm word on a moving sea. 静寂 means stillness, set against waves that never stop, and that small tension is what holds your attention.
- Warm for a wave print. Orange and red lead the palette, so it sits better with warm woods and rugs than a blue-only sea would.
- Dotted foam. White dots along the waves add a texture that still reads from across the room.
- Clouds that echo the water. The swirling clouds repeat the curl of the waves, tying sky and sea into one pattern.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This suits a living room with cream, warm white or olive walls and wood or leather furniture. Over a sofa, 24" x 36" gives the orange and navy enough area to hold the wall; above a console or bookshelf, 18" x 24" is enough. An espresso solid wood floating frame brings out the navy. Pair it with a rust or navy cushion on the sofa below to connect the print to the seating.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What does SEIJAKU mean? SEIJAKU appears with 静寂 on the print, and it means stillness. The word contrasts with the busy waves and clouds around it.
Which frame color works best? Espresso or black solid wood floating frames sharpen the navy. Natural wood leans into the orange and cream.
Will it clash with a gray sofa? No. The navy and cream sit well with gray, and the orange adds the warmth a gray room often lacks.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
