A san sebastian travel poster taken from high on the hill at the western end of the city, looking down on the shell-shaped bay with its gold beach curving away and the wooded island sitting in the mouth of it.
About the artwork
The viewpoint is the whole idea: high enough that the bay reads as a clean geometric shape rather than a coastline. The sand is one long ribbon of warm gold sweeping from the bottom edge to the middle right, tapering as it goes, with a paler wet margin and a thin lace of surf along it. The water is worked in three flat blues, mid-cerulean in the open sea and bright turquoise in the crook of the bay, and across the whole surface sit thousands of small white sparkle strokes laid in rows. The island is a dark green dome with a fringe of rock at its base. Down the left runs the town: pale apartment blocks with red roofs, a line of round street trees, and a promenade railing drawn tick by tick along the sea wall. Bathers on the sand are flecks two or three marks wide. Sky pale and high. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Spain beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The bay reads as a shape. Seen from above it becomes a near-perfect shell, which is what makes this view worth framing.
- Sparkle laid by hand. The glitter on the water is thousands of individual marks, not a filter over a photo.
- Gold and blue, and little else. A two-colour print in practice, so it lifts a pale room without fighting it.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The brightest print in this group and the easiest to place in a light room. White, chalk and pale blue walls let the turquoise do its job, and it suits pale oak, white ceramic and simple cotton rather than anything heavy. A white or light oak frame keeps it airy; black turns it into a graphic panel, which works if the room is already sharp. Good above a bed or in a bathroom, and it pairs with the St Ives print for a two-coast set.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What is the green island in the middle? The small wooded islet that sits in the mouth of the bay, drawn as a dark green dome with rock around its base.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
