A Salamanca travel poster made almost entirely of low sunlight on stone: a wide paved square running away from you, arcaded blocks down both sides, and a long carved sandstone facade across the far end glowing apricot while everything in shadow turns slate blue.
About the artwork
The viewpoint is raised and central, so the paving opens out in strong one-point perspective and every joint in the slabs points at the buildings ahead. That far facade is the detailed part: two storeys of regular windows under a crested roofline, an ornate carved entrance panel rising the full height in the middle, and a doorway arch beneath it, all in the honey-coloured stone this city is built from. To the right of it a tall tower carries a slate spire and a weathervane, with a second matching tower behind, and further back the pinnacles and crossing lantern of a cathedral break the skyline in silhouette. Left and right the square is enclosed by arcaded ranges with balconies, drawn in shadow so they read almost blue-grey, and a stone balustrade topped with row after row of carved finials steps down across the middle distance, throwing a rhythm of long shadows over the pavement. Streetlamps stand at intervals. Two small figures cross the empty plaza. The sky is banded in pale blue and warm apricot cloud. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Spain beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Light is the subject. Half the sheet is warm stone, half is cool shadow, and the line between them cuts a diagonal.
- Carving you can read. The finials, the crested roofline and the ornate entrance panel are all drawn out.
- An empty square. Two figures and nothing else, which gives the architecture room to breathe.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Warm, quiet and architectural — a natural fit for a study, a reading corner or a dining room with candles in it. The apricot stone sits beautifully on cream, camel and warm grey walls, and next to leather, aged brass and dark wood. Espresso or walnut framing deepens the shadows; natural oak keeps it golden. Put it next to the Alcázar of Toledo print if you want two Castilian stone views together, one a fortress on a hill and one a city square at the end of the day.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What are the towers on the right? A pair of baroque bell towers with slate spires and a weathervane, with the pinnacles of the cathedral rising behind them in the middle distance.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
