A Rock of Cashel poster of the ruins on their limestone outcrop: a round tower and roofless cathedral walls on a green hill, tall white cumulus banked behind them, and field after walled field running down towards you.
About the artwork
Two thirds of the frame is farmland, and it is drawn field by field. Dry stone walls and hedgerows cut the slope into long uneven strips set on the diagonal, which pulls the eye up the hill; single hawthorns and worn grazing tracks break the pattern, and loose stones tumble along the wall in the bottom corner. The green shifts as it climbs — acid and sunlit in the near fields, deeper and bluer further back, then a hazy plain. On the summit the buildings sit compact and dark against the sky: the tall round tower, a gabled wall with a pointed window, a squat cross-shaped chapel and broken curtain walls, all in grey-brown stone. The clouds supply the drama, banked cumulus lit hard on one side over a deep cobalt sky. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Ireland beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Ruins with a real skyline. Round tower, gable and chapel, each drawn as its own shape.
- Fields that lead uphill. Stone walls on the diagonal do all of the compositional work.
- Cobalt and cumulus. The cloud bank gives the green something to push against.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Bright, high in contrast and thoroughly outdoors, so it can carry a large empty wall on its own. It looks best against white, oatmeal or deep green paint, and beside oak, leather and wool. Natural wood frames warm the stone; black frames make the sky read deeper. Larger sizes suit it, because the field pattern only pays off when you can pick out the individual walls. It hangs happily with the other Irish and coastal designs in the shop.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What are the buildings on the hill? A round tower, a roofless cathedral and a small chapel, drawn as they stand on the limestone outcrop above the plain.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
