A Japanese tiger print for a living room wall that wants energy more than calm. An orange and black tiger roars open-mouthed in front of a large red sun streaked with brush marks. The lettering includes CHIKARA TO YUUKI, which means strength and courage, so the picture comes with its own motto.
About the artwork
Orange, red and black build the palette, with the tiger's striped head set against a large red sun whose surface shows visible brush streaks. On the left, vertical bands of red, orange and black run down the sheet like a retro stripe. The lettering reads "野生の虎," "YASEI NO TORA," "CHIKARA TO YUUKI" and "TOKYO 1988." CHIKARA TO YUUKI means "strength and courage." The finish is retro and graphic, closer to a vintage poster than a painting. Portrait.
Why you'll love it
- A motto on the wall. CHIKARA TO YUUKI means strength and courage, a message that suits a tiger mid-roar.
- The sun as a halo. The big red disc behind the head frames the tiger and makes its outline sharper.
- Brush marks in the sun. The streaked texture keeps the red from reading flat and adds a painted feel.
- Retro stripes as a border. The vertical red, orange and black bands on the left give the sheet a vintage poster structure.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This one suits a living room with a bit of retro in it: a walnut sideboard, a mustard armchair, a turntable. The red sun reads strongly on off-white, cream or charcoal walls. At 24" x 36" it commands the wall above a console; 30" x 40" goes over a wide sofa. An espresso or black floating frame repeats the dark stripes. Pair it with a burnt orange throw pillow on the sofa to pull the tiger's color into the room.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What does CHIKARA TO YUUKI mean? It means "strength and courage." It appears on the print alongside the tiger and the other lettering.
How high should it hang over a sofa? Leave about 8 to 10 inches between the sofa back and the bottom of the frame. 30" x 40" suits a wide sofa, while 24" x 36" fits a loveseat or a console table.
Is the sun a flat red circle? No. The design shows visible brush streaks across the red sun, so it reads as painted rather than flat.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
