A ribeira porto poster seen from across the Douro: the quayside houses stacked up the slope in tiers, flat-bottomed boats moored on water full of broken light, and the iron bridge cutting in from the left edge.
About the artwork
This one is worked like a three-colour screen print — deep blue, ink and a warm apricot, with cream where the sun lands. The river fills the bottom half and is built entirely from short marks: hundreds of little apricot dashes scattered across flat blue, densest in a broad path of reflected light. The moored boats are drawn in profile, each with a single mast, a raked prow and a stack of barrels amidships. Above the water a granite wall and an arcade carry the town, and from there the houses climb in tiers — narrow facades in cream, ochre and pale blue, window by window, under orange pantiles, with a domed church and a bell tower at the top of the hill. The bridge enters left as a steel lattice arch in silhouette, its deck running out of frame. Title in wide-tracked uppercase reading PORTO, with Portugal beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Light on the river. The glitter is drawn mark by mark, and it is what makes the print feel like evening.
- Houses stacked in tiers. Dozens of small facades, each with its own colour and roofline.
- A tight palette. Blue and apricot, nothing else — graphic enough to hold a large wall.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The deep blue makes it a strong evening print, good in a living room, dining corner or study where the walls are white, warm grey or a soft clay. It works with walnut, dark leather and aged brass, and the apricot lights up against unglazed pottery. Black frames suit the graphic treatment; espresso wood deepens the river. It hangs well next to the Lisbon print, or with Cologne if you like the same limited-colour handling.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Which part of the city is this? It frames the old riverfront quarter — the quay houses, the arcade and the moored boats — with the bridge only entering at the edge. The store also has a separate Porto print that leads with the bridge and the wider river.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
