A Rhine Falls poster from below the drop, with the river coming straight at you: heavy green swells and cream foam filling most of the frame, the wooded rock standing in mid-channel between the two chutes, and a castle on the cliff above.
About the artwork
The water is the lower two thirds and it is drawn with real structure. A big swell curls across the foreground with its face in dark teal and its crest tearing into cream, behind it the current runs in long combed strokes, and where the falls land the surface breaks into speckled spray made of thousands of small light dots. A tan rock ledge comes in at the bottom left and gives the eye somewhere to stand. Above the white line of the falls sits the mid-river outcrop, dark rock with a crown of trees, splitting the flow in two. On the left cliff a castle rises out of the woods with a round tower under a red conical roof; on the right bank a pale gabled house sits among trees, and a stone arch bridge crosses behind them. The palette is narrow: teal, sea green, cream and tan under a pale sky with thin cirrus. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Switzerland beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Water with weight. The swells are drawn as moving volume rather than white foam shapes.
- A castle above the falls. The red tower roof is the one hot note in a green and cream picture.
- A tight, nearly monochrome palette. Restrained enough for a room that already has colour.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The muted green makes this one of the easier prints to place: a study, a stairwell, a dining room, or above a desk where you see it close. It suits sage, olive, warm grey and cream walls, with oak, cane and aged brass around it. Natural oak or warm walnut follows the greens; black gives it more edge. It sits well beside the Oeschinensee or Chillon Castle prints.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What is the building on the cliff? A castle over the left-hand fall, with a round red-roofed tower and long tiled roofs. On the far bank there is a pale gabled house among the trees and a stone arch bridge behind.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
