A Portmeirion travel poster looking across the lawn to the village: pink, yellow and turquoise buildings packed onto a wooded slope, a shallow green dome beside an ochre bell tower, and the estuary glittering behind all of it.
About the artwork
Three clear registers. The foreground is mown lawn in alternating mower stripes, with stone urns and two pale classical figures on plinths standing along the edge; they set the scale and the whole tone of the place. The middle register is the village, a proper jumble — a bell tower in ochre, a low turquoise dome on columns, a cupola with a gold finial, arched loggias, and facades in rose pink, buttermilk, mint and terracotta, with palms and cypress pushed into every gap. Nothing lines up with anything, which is the point of the place and the drawing keeps it. Dark pines close the right edge, a wooded headland the left. Behind, the tidal estuary spreads out in pale sand bars and blue channels with sunlight scattered right across it, and low green farmland on the far shore. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Wales beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A full pastel palette. Rose, buttermilk, mint and turquoise in one frame, rare in a landscape print.
- Italianate architecture on a Welsh tideline. Domes and campanile above sand bars — the contrast is the whole story.
- Statues in the foreground. They give the village its scale and pull you into the picture from the lawn.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Soft and bright at once, so it suits a bedroom, nursery or a light sitting room rather than a dark study. It sits happily on white, dove grey or duck-egg walls and pairs with cane and painted furniture. A white frame keeps the pastels floating; natural oak grounds them. It goes well beside the Amsterdam canal print if you like colourful architecture, or with the St Ives harbour view for a coastal pairing.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Is this really in Wales? Yes — an Italianate village built on a wooded headland above a north Wales estuary, which is why pastel domes and palms sit above a tidal sandbank.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
