A Santa Fe New Mexico travel poster shot down the length of the Palace of the Governors portal. Rough timber posts march away in sharp perspective under a ceiling of peeled log vigas, vendors sit along the adobe wall with striped blankets spread in front of them, and the foothills open out at the far end under a deep turquoise sky.
About the artwork
Flat vector shapes with fine linear texture, so the mud-plaster walls look grainy and the log beams keep their grain and knots. The palette is adobe against sky: terracotta, salmon and clay on the walls, warm brown and honey on the posts and vigas, flagstone cream and grey underfoot, deep teal-turquoise overhead, blue-green foothills on the horizon and small hits of scarlet, marigold and turquoise in the woven blankets. A clipped tree canopy fills the top right corner, cumulus clouds bank behind the hills, and a strip of green lawn cuts across the paving in the foreground. The type reads SANTA FE in white capitals with NEW MEXICO letterspaced below. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Perspective does the work — the row of posts pulls the eye a full block down the plaza rather than sitting flat.
- Adobe and turquoise — the two colours Santa Fe is actually known for, used at full strength.
- The portal as people use it — vendors under the arcade with blankets laid out, which is what the building is famous for day to day.
- Texture you can see — mud plaster, hand-hewn vigas and flagstone all rendered with their own grain.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Terracotta and turquoise are a southwestern pairing that reads warm from across the room. The print looks at home on the terracotta wall in the photographs above, where the adobe almost merges with the paint, and it holds up equally well on cream, oatmeal or a soft clay wall. Natural oak or espresso framing follows the timber posts. In a living room with leather, jute or woven textiles, it slots straight in.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The colonnade recedes to a small vanishing point, so bigger helps. 20" x 30" or 24" x 36" keeps the far end of the portal and the blanket patterns readable; 12" x 18" works in a tight hallway.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship rolled and unframed in standard US and A-series sizes. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
What does the poster say? The wording printed on the artwork is SANTA FE and NEW MEXICO. The building is the Palace of the Governors on the north side of the Plaza, which is not named in the lettering.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.

- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
