An Ostend travel poster seen from high above the promenade: turquoise water rolling in as rank after rank of white breakers, a wide band of pale sand, and the seafront running away to the horizon as one long row of apartment blocks.
About the artwork
The whole picture is three long diagonals meeting near the top. The sea occupies the left, drawn in flat turquoise and steel bands with the surf worked as ragged white shapes stacked one behind another, each a little smaller as it goes back — that repetition is what gives the print its distance. The sand runs up the middle in warm buff and shell pink, with a few figures small enough to be commas. On the right the town is stacked steeply: rooftop terraces, balconies, blue-grey slate and the ordered fronts of the seafront blocks, then a long white pavilion on the sea wall further out, and finally the coast dissolving into pale haze. The sky is a single unbroken blue with the faintest line of cloud on the horizon. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Belgium beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A bird's-eye coastline. Not the usual eye-level beach view, which is why it holds attention.
- Surf drawn as pattern. Rows of white breakers give the left half a rhythm you can read across a room.
- Turquoise, sand and sky blue. Three colours, calmly handled, easy to live with.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Cool and open, which makes it a natural bedroom or bathroom print, and a good lift for a north-facing room. It sits happily on white, pale grey and sand-coloured walls, and against soft green paint the turquoise turns up a notch. Keep the materials light — pale oak, linen, cane, matte ceramic. A white frame keeps it breezy; natural oak warms the sand. It hangs well beside the Llandudno print or any of the other coast views.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is this looking? Down the length of the beach and promenade from above the seafront, with the long pavilion on the sea wall in the middle distance and the coast fading north.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
