An Olympia, Washington travel poster looking across Capitol Lake to the state Capitol. The domed stone building sits on its bluff behind a colonnaded portico, a wall of Douglas firs closes in on both sides, and a rough grey riprap shore drops into flat green water that fills the bottom third of the sheet.
About the artwork
Flat vector shapes with hard edges, built in layers: pale blue sky, a hazy blue-grey band of distant forest, then near firs in three darkening greens. The Capitol is rendered in bone and warm ivory with cool grey shadow picking out the ribbed dome, the lantern on top and the row of columns. The lake is a deep petrol green scored with fine horizontal lines that read as ripple rather than reflection. Small pale rocks and a strip of dry grass separate land from water. Typography sits in the sky in white capitals: OLYMPIA above WASHINGTON. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- One building, given room — the dome is the whole subject, not a detail lost in a skyline.
- Pacific Northwest greens — fir, moss and lake water in a palette that stays calm on the wall.
- Water texture — the ruled ripple across the lower third gives the print a quiet, graphic base.
- A capital-city print — for state workers, legislators, alumni and anyone who has walked the Capitol campus.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Deep fir green and bone stone are easy neighbours. The sage green room in the photographs above is the natural match, and the print is equally at home on off-white or a soft grey. In a home office it pairs well with black metal shelving and a walnut desk; the ivory dome keeps the whole thing from going heavy.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The composition is simple and holds up small, so 12" x 18" works on a desk wall. Over a credenza or sofa, 24" x 36" lets the fir line and the columns breathe.
Does it come framed? Paper ships rolled and unframed. Matte canvas is stretched and ready to hang. Framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? Two white lines at the top: OLYMPIA, then WASHINGTON beneath it. There is no other text on the artwork.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
