A Martha's Vineyard travel poster that walks the row of Oak Bluffs gingerbread cottages in the Campground. Three steep Gothic gables step across the frame in mint, butter yellow and coral, each one edged with carved white scrollwork. Porches, balconies and pointed arch windows line up behind a mown lawn, with flower beds tucked against the front steps.
About the artwork
Drawn in flat vector shapes with hard edges and gentle airbrushed shading, so the fretwork stays crisp at any size. The palette is taken straight from the Campground: seafoam mint, butter yellow, coral salmon and shell pink siding, cream white trim, charcoal shingle roofs, a duck-egg sky and spring green grass. Look for the jigsaw bargeboard along every gable, the lattice balcony railings, the slender finial on the centre roof and the oak canopy leaning in from the top left. The type reads MARTHA'S VINEYARD in white serif capitals across the sky, with MASSACHUSETTS letterspaced beneath it. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The cottages, not a generic beach scene — the Oak Bluffs Campground gables are the reason people photograph this island, and they carry the whole composition.
- A pastel palette that stays calm — mint, coral and butter yellow sit against cream trim, so the print reads soft rather than loud.
- Detail that rewards a close look — carved bargeboard, lattice rails and arched windows are all drawn in, not suggested.
- Summer memory in one frame — for anyone who has taken the ferry over from Woods Hole or walked Trinity Park at dusk.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The mint and coral do their best work against a warm neutral. On the terracotta wall in the photographs above, the coral cottage picks up the clay tone and the cream trim keeps it from going heavy. On a plain white or pale sage wall the whole row reads fresh and summery. A natural oak frame suits the pastels; black sharpens the charcoal roofs if you want more contrast in a hallway or a bedroom.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? For a narrow hallway or a gallery wall, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24" is enough. Over a sideboard, a bed or a sofa, go to 24" x 36" so the cottage detail stays readable from across the room.
Does it come framed? Paper prints arrive rolled and unframed, sized for standard US and A-series frames. If you would rather not shop for a frame, choose framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? The printed text is MARTHA'S VINEYARD with MASSACHUSETTS underneath. Oak Bluffs is the town on the island where these gingerbread cottages stand, so the artwork is titled for the neighbourhood and captioned for the island.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
