A Nuremberg travel poster from down at water level: the Pegnitz running out of the picture towards you, half-timbered houses with steep red roofs standing right on the bank, a round stone tower in the middle of them, and the castle towers up on the ridge behind.
About the artwork
The river does the composing. It fills the lower half in bands of slate, teal and green, broken by long soft reflections of the red roofs and the pale tower, and by a bank of chalky white boulders and scrub along the right edge. Above the water the buildings are packed tight: white plaster panels crossed with dark timbers, oriel windows, dormers, and terracotta tiles laid course by course. The round tower sits at the centre in rough grey stone with a conical red cap. To the right a covered wooden bridge crosses the water on a stone arch, and behind everything the sandstone castle towers rise on the hill under a light-clouded blue sky. Trees are massed in flat dark green at both edges to close the view in. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Germany beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Half-timbering drawn honestly. Every beam, dormer and oriel is there to be found when you stand close.
- Water and reflection. The bottom half of the print is river, which gives the busy old town somewhere to breathe.
- Red roofs on green and slate. Warm tiles against cool water, the reason it reads from a distance.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
A warm, detailed print that rewards a spot people pass slowly — a dining wall, a landing, a home office behind a desk. It suits cream, mushroom and sage walls, and the red roofs pick up terracotta pots or a rust cushion. Oak, walnut and pewter suit it better than anything glossy. Natural wood frames follow the timbers; espresso deepens the whole thing. It groups well with the Bamberg and Quedlinburg prints as a German old-town wall.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
What is the round tower in the middle? An old stone water tower on the riverbank, part of the medieval defences; the covered timber bridge to its right crosses the Pegnitz beside it.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
