This North Cascades National Park watercolor print shows the vivid turquoise water of Diablo Lake winding between forested mountains in Washington, seen from the Diablo Lake Overlook. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the view, not an exact copy of it.
About the artwork
The lake is a dense, milky turquoise, the peaks are left as white paper for snow with blue-violet shadows, and fine ink lines draw the conifers, cliffs and stone wall. The lower left melts into turquoise washes with long drips and yellow splatter. Diablo Lake curves from the middle ground down to the lower right, with small pine-covered islands and steep forested slopes on both sides. Jagged snowy peaks with glaciers fill the background, and the overlook's stone wall and granite outcrop sit in the left foreground, looking down from above. Snow in the high gullies points to early summer. "NORTH CASCADES" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Turquoise glacial water. The bright lake color is the boldest note in the print.
- Kayaks below. Two small kayaks in red and yellow cross the lake between the islands.
- Overlook visitors. People lean on the stone railing while a raven sits on a nearby rock.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Turquoise, deep green and granite gray suit a modern living room, a bathroom or an office with white, charcoal or teal accents. It makes a fresh gift for a road-tripper who drove the North Cascades Highway, or a hiker chasing alpine lakes.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of North Cascades National Park? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Diablo Lake and the surrounding peaks, which are simplified rather than drawn as specific summits.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "NORTH CASCADES," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
