A New Orleans travel poster that takes the city as a whole rather than one address: a rain-soaked street at night, two storeys of black iron-lace galleries hung with ferns on the left, shopfronts burning orange, red and magenta behind the columns, neon signs further down the block, and the blue-grey downtown towers fading into the rain at the end of the street.
About the artwork
A saturated night illustration built on complementary colour rather than line: indigo and midnight blue for the sky, the wet air and the distant towers, against vermilion, hot orange, magenta and emerald in the windows and doorways. Black is used only for the cast-iron balconies, the lamp posts and the gallery columns, so the metalwork reads as silhouette. Rain falls in fine diagonal streaks across the whole sheet. The bottom third is given to the wet paving, where every light drags down into a long vertical smear of red, teal and gold. A single globe street lamp sits at the middle distance. The lettering reads NEW ORLEANS above LOUISIANA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Night, not postcard daylight — the city as it actually looks after a rain shower, lit entirely by shopfronts.
- Reflections carry the bottom half — the wet street is as detailed as the buildings above it.
- Iron lace in silhouette — the balconies and hanging ferns are drawn as black cut-outs against the glow, which is what gives it depth.
- Colour with a job — warm neon on the left, cool blue downtown at the end of the street, one clear line of sight between them.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is a dark, high-saturation print, so it needs a wall that can take it: deep green, navy, charcoal or a warm terracotta all work, and the walnut sideboard against the terracotta wall in the photographs above shows the warm route. On plain white it becomes a bright rectangle of colour, which suits a hallway or a bar corner. Black or espresso framing keeps it contained; avoid a pale wood frame, which fights the midnight blue.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Dark prints gain from scale, and the neon lettering and reflections only resolve properly above 18" x 24". Over a sofa or a sideboard, 24" x 36" is the size to pick.
Does it come framed? Paper prints arrive unframed and rolled. Framed canvas ships ready to hang in white, black, espresso or natural. On paper, matte finish matters here — a glossy surface would bounce room light straight off the dark areas.
Is this a specific street? No. This is the city-wide New Orleans design, a night street opening toward the downtown skyline. If you want a named location instead, there are separate French Quarter and Jackson Square designs elsewhere in the shop.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
