Three violets, a perforated edge, and a denomination that was never printed. This New Jersey state flower print borrows the whole grammar of a nineteenth-century definitive — heavy letterpress at the top, The Garden State along the bottom — for a stamp no post office ever issued.
About the artwork
Deep violet on lavender, one ink throughout. Three open five-petal saucer blooms face straight out of the frame, carried on slim branching stems that leave plenty of empty ground between them. A fern ornament fills the lower-left corner and the 1¢ denomination sits in a circle opposite. The perforated edge is drawn as real die-cut scallops on a plain cream sheet, so the stamp sits on the page as an object. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Three flowers, plenty of air. The slim stems keep the centre of the stamp open, so this is one of the lightest compositions in the series.
- Tone on tone. Deep violet printed on lavender is a single hue at two strengths, which is why it never clashes with what is already in the room.
- Built as a set of fifty. Every state shares the same frame, denomination and typography, so any combination lines up.
- A gift for someone from New Jersey. Home state on the wall, without souvenir kitsch.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Deep violet on lavender leans cool and a little dressy, so it suits rooms with cooler whites, pale blues, chrome or glass rather than heavy timber. White and black frames both work; white keeps the lavender ground floating, black pins it down and makes the violets look almost inked. The open composition means it can take a wider mat than most of the series, and 16" x 24" behind glass over a dressing table or entry console is a good place to start. Group it with the other cool sheets — blues, greys, the softer greens — and skip the oranges, which turn the lavender chalky.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console, desk or shelf, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Can I collect more than one state? Yes. All fifty share one format and one denomination, so any combination hangs as a matched set.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
