A Natchez travel poster built around the octagonal red-brick mansion that stands on the wooded edge of town, seen through a gap in the trees. The onion dome and its slender finial catch the light above a ring of arched windows, white cast-iron galleries wrap the storeys below, and the whole house sits half-buried in cedar, live oak and undergrowth under a hard blue sky.
About the artwork
Hard-edged vector shapes with no outlines, worked in dense overlapping layers so the foliage reads as hundreds of separate flat leaves. The palette is warm brick red and terracotta on the walls and the dome, chalk white on the balustrades, brackets and trim, and a very wide range of greens behind it: olive, moss, sea green, and a deep near-black in the shadowed canopy. Tree trunks are drawn in salmon and rust, with strands of Spanish moss hanging from the branches at the top. The sky is a single flat cobalt with no clouds, which pushes the dome forward. Framing trees close both edges. The title is set in white capitals: NATCHEZ, with MISSISSIPPI below. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- An unmistakable house — the octagonal plan and onion dome make this one of the strangest and best-known antebellum buildings in the South.
- Brick red against green — the complementary pairing carries the whole print without any third colour.
- Layered woodland — foreground scrub, mid-ground canopy and a moss-hung frame give the image real depth.
- For the Natchez Trace travellers — a specific landmark for anyone who has toured the bluff town above the Mississippi River.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The terracotta brick makes this an unusually warm print, and it sits naturally against the terracotta wall in the photographs above as well as on cream, clay and warm white. Deep green walls will swallow the foliage, so avoid those. Walnut or espresso framing echoes the tree trunks; a white frame lifts the cast-iron detail. Leather, brass and rattan all sit comfortably beneath it in a study or dining room.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? There is a lot of fine architectural detail in the galleries and the dome. 18" x 24" is the smallest that keeps it legible, and 24" x 36" is better if the print will hang above furniture.
Does it come framed? Paper arrives rolled and unframed for your own frame. Matte canvas is stretched and ready to hang, and framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? Only NATCHEZ in large white capitals with MISSISSIPPI beneath it. The building itself is not named anywhere on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
