A naantali travel poster taken from the end of a jetty on a still morning: bleached planks running out into flat teal water, the painted wooden houses of the old town along the far shore, and a low boardwalk with finger piers reaching out in front of them.
About the artwork
The jetty is the anchor. It comes in from the bottom-left corner with the planks running diagonally, drawn board by board in pale bleached yellow with fine dark grain lines, and two thick round posts stand up at the far end to stop the eye and set the scale. The water fills the middle and stays almost flat — muted teal-green, worked with soft pale reflections and a few darker patches, so calm it barely ripples. On the right shore, rounded grey-tan boulders with grass tufts. Behind them the town runs as a row of small wooden houses in ochre, mustard, brick red and cream, with red and green tin roofs, white window frames and small porches, a hedge and flower beds along their fronts, and heavy dark green trees behind. To the left the boardwalk steps out into the shallows, ending in a line of bare piles. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Finland beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- You are standing on the jetty. The planks put the viewer in the picture rather than outside it.
- Water with no wind in it. The stillness is the mood of the whole print.
- Painted timber houses. Ochre, mustard and red drawn one by one, each with its own roof colour.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Calm, low in contrast and warm-cool at once, which makes it a bedroom or reading-corner print rather than a statement piece. Soft sage, muted eucalyptus and warm off-white walls hold the teal beautifully, and the ochre houses tie into linen, jute and pale birch. Frame it in natural oak or plain white to stay in the summer-cottage register; black makes it more graphic than the picture wants. Hang it with the Porvoo or Savonlinna prints.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Is this the sea or a lake? It is a sheltered archipelago channel, which is why the water sits so flat — open sea is only a short way past the wooded islands on the left horizon.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Damage, defects & care
Every piece is printed for you after you order, so we cannot take a print back for a change of mind — please check the size and material first. Our Size Guide shows every size drawn to scale.

Keep artwork out of direct sunlight. Wipe framed canvas with a dry, soft cloth. Handle paper prints by the edges until they are framed.

Matte canvas

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
