A Taos Pueblo New Mexico poster drawn from across the creek: the multi-storey adobe block stacked back in tiers, wooden ladders leaning on every level, turquoise-painted window frames and doors set into the earth walls, and the snow-streaked ridge of the mountains standing behind it under a flat blue sky.
About the artwork
Hard-edged shapes with a stippled, sun-bleached texture across the adobe, so the walls read as packed earth rather than flat colour. The palette is built on one strong contrast: burnt orange and terracotta for the pueblo, cool slate blue and violet-grey for the mountain, with pale sky blue above and a band of turquoise on every window and door. In the foreground a shallow creek runs toward the viewer in pale blue with sandy reflections, edged by rounded tan boulders and clumps of dry ochre grass. Protruding roof beams and a dozen separate ladders give the upper half its rhythm. The lettering reads TAOS PUEBLO above NEW MEXICO. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The ladders make the picture — a dozen of them at different angles, which is what stays with anyone who has stood there.
- Earth against snow — hot terracotta in the foreground, cold blue peak behind, in one frame.
- Turquoise in the right places — the painted window and door frames are the only cool accents in the adobe, and they carry the whole lower half.
- Southwestern without cliche — no cactus, no cow skull, just the building, the creek and the mountain.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This is the warmest print in the set, so it does its best work on a cream, clay or plain white wall where the orange is not fighting anything. It sits naturally with leather, jute, raw wood and woven textiles. The walnut sideboard and terracotta wall in the photographs above show the tone-on-tone route; if you want more contrast, hang it on white in a natural oak frame and let the turquoise windows do the talking.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? There is a lot of small detail in the ladders and windows, so 18" x 24" is a good floor. Over a sofa, a bed or a dining sideboard, 24" x 36" lets the adobe texture show.
Does it come framed? Paper prints arrive unframed and rolled. Framed canvas comes ready to hang in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? The lettering is shorter than the product name. It reads TAOS PUEBLO in white capitals across the sky with NEW MEXICO beneath it, and nothing else.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
