A Mossbrae Falls poster built around the thing that makes this waterfall unusual: not one plunge but dozens of thin white veils seeping out of a moss-covered rock wall and dropping in parallel lines into the turquoise Sacramento River below, with conifer forest above, a bare rust-brown buttress to the left and blue ridges further upvalley.
About the artwork
A closely painted illustration — the moss is built from thousands of small green marks, the water from fine vertical strokes, so the falls read as a curtain rather than a solid sheet. The palette is dominated by greens: emerald and lime on the wet moss, dark bottle green in the firs, olive in the bank scrub. Against that, the river runs bright turquoise over pale cobbles, the cliff faces are rust and cocoa brown, and a bank of cream cumulus rises behind. Coral-pink wildflowers sit in the lower left corner. White type reads MOSSBRAE FALLS above CALIFORNIA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A waterfall shaped like a wall. Roughly fifty feet high and far wider than it is tall — the composition keeps that horizontal spread rather than pretending it is a single column.
- Green on green on green. Four or five distinct greens are worked against one another, which is rare in a landscape print and easy to live with.
- The Sacramento River headwaters. Upper Soda Springs country near Dunsmuir, where the river is still narrow and clear.
- Cooling in a warm room. Turquoise and moss settle down a south-facing space that gets too much afternoon light.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Moss green and turquoise are happiest against warm neutrals — cream, oat, limewash, or a soft clay wall that lets the greens stay the coolest thing in the room. A natural oak frame is the obvious match; espresso deepens the forest tones. It looks settled in a bedroom or a bathroom-adjacent hallway, and works well leaning on the floor beside an armchair as in the photographs above.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The individual water strands are the appeal, so go large where you can: 24" x 36" or 30" x 40". At 8" x 12" the veils merge into a single pale band.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas comes in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Can you visit the falls? Access is restricted and has been disputed for years. The route people historically used follows an active railroad right-of-way; walking on it is unlawful and genuinely dangerous, and we are not describing it here. Check current guidance from the City of Dunsmuir before planning anything.
What does the poster say? Two white lines at the base: MOSSBRAE FALLS and CALIFORNIA.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
