A Pictured Rocks Miners Castle poster looking west along the sandstone cliffs of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Mineral seepage has painted the rock face in vertical bands of rust, orange and copper-green. Tan boulders spill into the shallows in the foreground, and the Miners Castle formation itself stands pale in the middle distance with the sea arch cut through its base.
About the artwork
Flat vector shapes with the cliff stains laid in as long vertical strips, hard-edged and unblended, which is exactly how the mineral streaks look from the water. The palette is unusually wide for this series: burnt orange, rust and terracotta on the cliff, with turquoise and copper-green streaks running through it, set against Lake Superior in a graded run from pale aqua in the shallows to cobalt offshore. The boulders are warm tan with cool grey shadow, small pines cling to the clifftop, and the sky is a plain flat blue. Typography is thin white capitals across the top: MINERS CASTLE PICTURED ROCK, with MICHIGAN spaced below. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Colour that is real, not invented — the orange and green cliff bands are actual mineral staining.
- Water in four blues — aqua shallows through to deep cobalt gives the print real depth.
- The arch is in there — look at the pale formation mid-distance and you can see through it.
- Warm and cool in one frame — rust cliff against cold lake, which is why it holds a room.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — stretched on a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The rust and terracotta in the cliff is the lead colour here, so it belongs on a warm wall — the terracotta room with the walnut sideboard in the photographs above is the obvious match, and clay, ochre or plain cream all work. Espresso or walnut framing pulls the orange forward; white framing keeps the lake dominant instead. Good above a sofa or a dining sideboard.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The cliff banding is the point, so go large where you can: 24" x 36" or 30" x 40". At 16" x 24" the streaks still read but the arch gets small.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas ships in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The printed text reads MINERS CASTLE PICTURED ROCK across the top with MICHIGAN below it. The site is Miners Castle in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, near Munising.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
