A Milwaukee Art Museum poster taken from the water: the white lakefront pavilion with its movable brise soleil raised into a wing, the tall mast leaning back on its fan of cables, and the glazed hall glowing teal behind it, all of it sitting on a low seawall above the flat blue of Lake Michigan.
About the artwork
Flat vector illustration with hard-edged shapes and a deliberately small palette: chalk white and pale grey for the building, a mid steel blue sky, deep teal and navy bands for the lake, and a single strip of green lawn and dark treeline along the shore. The glass hall behind the wing is drawn as a run of thin vertical mullions in turquoise, which is the only fine texture in the upper half. The water is built from stacked horizontal ripple lines that get darker toward the foreground, and small cumulus clouds sit low on the horizon at both edges. The lettering reads MILWAUKEE above WISCONSIN in white sans-serif capitals. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Architecture, not a skyline — one building drawn large and clean, so it works where a crowded downtown view would look busy.
- The wings are open — the print catches the pavilion in the raised position it only holds during the day.
- Calm, cool palette — white, steel blue and teal, easy to live with in a study or a bedroom.
- A Lake Michigan view — the shoreline and open water are as much of the subject as the building itself.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Blue and white this cool wants a quiet surround: a white, bone or pale grey wall lets the teal water do the work, and a slim black frame sharpens the building's edges. It suits a home office or a reading corner more than a busy hallway. If your walls are warm, the beige room with the oak console in the photographs above shows how the blues warm up next to natural wood and a green plant.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The composition is wide and simple, so it holds up small: 12" x 18" works on a desk wall or in a gallery grouping. Over a sofa or a bed, go to 24" x 36" so the cable fan and the glass mullions stay crisp.
Does it come framed? Paper prints arrive unframed and rolled. Choose framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural if you want it ready to hang out of the box.
What does the poster say? The text is not the building's name. It reads MILWAUKEE in large white capitals with WISCONSIN beneath it, and there is no other lettering on the artwork.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
