A Maroon Bells Colorado poster taken from the shoreline of Maroon Lake. The two bell-shaped peaks stand at the centre, their sedimentary bands running in clear diagonal stripes with snow caught in the gullies, and the whole range repeats upside down in the still water. Dark spruce crowd the left bank, a pale talus slope spills to the shore, and a band of gold aspen runs along the right-hand valley wall.
About the artwork
Painted in layered detail rather than flat shapes: every stratum on the peaks is drawn as a separate stripe in mauve, dusty rose, plum and grey, with snowfields left in near-white. The palette below is dark forest green, gold and amber aspen, ochre grass and a deep petrol-blue lake that turns pale mint in the shallows. A leafy branch overhangs the top right corner and a rust-red shrub leans in at the lower right, framing the view. The sky is a deep gradient blue with banked white cumulus behind the summits. Title type sits in white at the bottom: MAROON BELLS above COLORADO. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The striped rock is the whole point — the mudstone banding that gives the Bells their maroon colour is drawn stripe by stripe, not suggested.
- Autumn without being an autumn cliche — the aspen gold is a band on one slope, balanced against spruce and snow.
- A double image — the reflection gives the lower half of the print its own quiet composition.
- For anyone who took the early bus in — this is the view from the lake path, not a summit shot.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Deep blue-green and gold make this an easy fit for navy, forest or slate walls, and it lifts a plain white room without warming it. Pair it with wool, leather and dark timber rather than pale coastal furniture. A black frame sharpens the peaks; natural oak brings out the aspen gold. It hangs well in a bedroom or a study, along the lines of the teak sideboard and arched alcove rooms in the photographs above.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The reflection needs height, so 24" x 36" is the sweet spot over a bed or sofa. At 12" x 18" the banding on the peaks still reads clearly on a desk or shelf.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
What does the poster say? Just MAROON BELLS and COLORADO in white at the foot of the image. The peaks are Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak in the Elk Mountains, reached from Maroon Lake southwest of Aspen — a mountain subject distinct from the store's Denver, Boulder and Colorado Springs city prints.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
