A Marienplatz travel poster from a rooftop above the square: the neo-Gothic town hall filling the right of the frame with its clock tower and pinnacled gables, the twin green onion domes of the Frauenkirche rising behind the red roofs on the left, and the square below packed with people, awnings and market stalls.
About the artwork
The most architecturally dense print in the batch. The town hall alone carries hundreds of separate marks — tracery, finials, statue niches, the clock face and the ribs of the arcade at street level — all drawn in cool grey-green stone with slate roofs, and it is deliberately the darkest mass in the image so the eye lands there first. Against it the left side is warm: terracotta roof tiles, ochre and salmon facades, red awnings. The sky is not flat but streaked with long sweeping cirrus that echoes the vertical of the tower. Down in the square the crowd is drawn as small blocks of colour, dense enough to read as a market day. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Germany beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Two Munich landmarks in one image. The town hall tower and the Frauenkirche domes, both unmistakable.
- Cool stone, warm roofs. The split is what gives the print its depth.
- A city with people in it. The square is busy, which is how Marienplatz actually is.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Busy and detailed, so it wants clear wall around it rather than a crowded gallery arrangement, and it rewards being hung where people walk past close. Warm white and pale grey walls suit it; strong colour fights the roofs. Because so much of the image is mid-tone, a dark frame gives it the edge it needs. Buy it at 16" x 24" or larger — below that the tracery on the tower starts to close up.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is the view from? An elevated view across the square, with the town hall on the right and the cathedral domes behind the rooftops.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
