A Lone Rock Lake Powell poster seen from the sand at Wahweap Bay. The pale sandstone monolith stands alone offshore, water breaking white along its base, with a low wall of red mesas running behind it on both sides. In front, a wind-chopped blue lake rolls a line of surf up onto a wide orange beach scattered with small stones.
About the artwork
Flat, hard-edged shapes with the water and sand built from close parallel strokes, so the chop and the wet sand sheen read as texture rather than gradient. The palette is a straight complementary pair: cerulean sky and cobalt-to-teal water against amber and burnt orange sand. Lone Rock itself is cream and bone with warm grey shadow in its vertical fissures and a dark undercut at the waterline. The distant cliffs are terracotta and dusty rose, and the surf is worked in white and pale ice blue. Typography sits in thin white capitals near the top: LONE ROCK, with UTAH spaced below. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Desert and water at once — an unlikely combination that only reads as Lake Powell.
- Complementary colour done simply — orange sand against blue water carries the whole print.
- A single clear subject — the monolith holds the centre with nothing competing.
- Warm without being loud — the sand is amber, not neon, so it stays liveable.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The amber and terracotta side of this print lands perfectly against the terracotta wall and walnut sideboard in the photographs above. It also lifts a plain white or cream room without needing anything else on the wall. Natural oak framing keeps the sand warm; black framing pushes the blue forward. Good over a sofa, or in a west-facing room where afternoon light hits the orange.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? The composition is simple enough to work at 12" x 18" in a gallery wall. As a single statement piece, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" gives the beach its sweep.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas ships in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
What does the poster say? The printed text reads LONE ROCK with UTAH below it. The rock sits in Wahweap Bay on Lake Powell, inside Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
