A Loire Valley poster of the great chateau at the water's edge: a roofline crowded with turrets, chimneys and lantern towers standing above a screen of clipped trees, and the whole of it repeated upside down in a broad, still river.
About the artwork
Two-thirds of this print is reflection, and that is the decision that makes it work. The building is drawn in cream and pale bone with every dormer, pilaster and slate-blue roof picked out, and the roofline is allowed to stay busy: a forest of chimneys and pepperpot turrets with the tallest lantern at the centre. Beneath it a hedge of round-headed trees runs the full width in three or four greens, backed by darker woodland. Then the river takes over. The reflection is not a mirror copy but a set of horizontal bands in teal, petrol and near-black that lengthen and soften as they come towards the bottom edge, so the towers dissolve into ripple. A single dark branch with leaves hangs into the top right corner and gives the flat sky some depth. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with France beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- The reflection carries the print. Half the image is water, built band by band rather than mirrored.
- A roofline worth close looking. Turrets, chimneys and dormers all drawn individually.
- Cool greens and petrol blue. A calm, low-contrast palette that settles a room instead of shouting at it.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Quiet and green, so it suits rooms you sit still in: a study, a dining room, the end of a long hallway. It looks its best on sage, olive or soft blue-grey walls, and beside walnut, brass and dark leather. A slim black frame keeps it crisp, while a narrow gilt moulding leans it towards the classical without tipping into pastiche. Hang it with the Rocamadour or Saint-Malo prints for a French wall where each one gives you a different landscape.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Which chateau is shown? One of the great Renaissance houses of the valley, seen from across its water channel; the print is titled for the Loire Valley rather than for a single building.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
