A Lofoten Islands travel poster from the water's edge: a cluster of red timber fishing cabins standing on a rocky point, a bare granite peak rising straight up behind them, and clear shallow water in the foreground with boulders visible right through it.
About the artwork
The transparency is what makes this one. The bottom half of the frame is water you can see into — boulders drawn in full detail beneath the surface, their edges softened and their colour cooled, with bands of pale sand between them and a ripple of white light running across the top. That takes far more drawing than an opaque sea and it is the reason the foreground holds attention. Above it the palette narrows to three notes: the scarlet of the cabins, the grey-brown granite of the peak, and blue — sky, sea and the distant snow ridges all sharing one family. The cabins are small but fully drawn, with white window frames, boardwalks and a dark roofline that separates them from the rock. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Norway beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- You can see through the water. Rare in a flat-colour print and the reason this one keeps giving.
- Red against grey and blue. The cabins are tiny and still carry the whole image.
- Arctic light, no gloom. A northern scene that reads bright rather than bleak.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Cool blues with one hot accent, which makes it easy to place — it will not dictate a scheme the way a fully saturated print does. It suits white, pale grey and soft blue walls, and sits well with pale wood, wool and linen. Natural oak frames are the obvious choice. It makes a coherent Nordic trio with the Kirkjufell and Blue Lagoon prints, all sharing the same cold palette.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is the view from? From the shoreline looking across the shallows at the cabins on their point, with the peak behind.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
