A Lauterbrunnen travel poster looking up the valley floor: sheer limestone walls closing in from both sides, a waterfall dropping in a pale ribbon down the cliff on the right, dark timber chalets scattered across the meadow, and snow-covered peaks filling the gap at the head of the valley.
About the artwork
Illustrated with a printmaker's discipline — flat colour, but built up in enough separate values that the cliffs have real relief. The left wall is held in cool shadow, the right catches full sun, and that single decision is what makes the valley feel deep rather than flat. The rock is drawn with vertical striations and clinging pines along every ledge; the falling water is a pale blue-white break in an otherwise warm cliff face. In the lower third the meadow opens into saturated spring green, with each chalet given its own dark roof and small windows, and a milky glacial stream running out toward the viewer. The snowfields at the back are the only cool bright note. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Switzerland beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Scale you can feel. The chalets are tiny against the walls, which is exactly the impression the valley makes in person.
- Green and stone. A quiet palette that adds landscape to a room without adding noise.
- Vertical by nature. The subject is a narrow valley, so the 2:3 portrait format is doing real work.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Green, stone grey and white — close to a neutral, which makes this one of the easiest prints in the series to place. It suits an office, a stairwell or a bedroom, and takes a natural or white frame better than a dark one. Because the composition draws the eye upward it works well in a tall, narrow space where a landscape print would look stranded. It pairs cleanly with the Zermatt print: same palette, different mountain shape.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is the view from? From the valley floor looking up between the cliff walls, with the meadow and chalets in the foreground.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
