A red pagoda print for a living room that could use one strong, warm shape. The view looks up at the tiered red-orange roofs of a Kyoto pagoda, with a teal sky and cream clouds behind. It feels like stopping on a temple path and tipping your head back to take it in.
About the artwork
Two colors carry the print: a red-orange for the pagoda and a turquoise teal for the sky, softened by patches of cream cloud. The pagoda is cropped close and seen from below, so the stacked roofs climb upward through the sheet one tier after another. The drawing follows a retro poster style, with the warm roofs set hard against the cool sky. The lettering reads "KYOTO JAPAN", along with a short line of Japanese characters. Portrait.
Why you'll love it
- An unusual angle. Instead of the usual side view, the pagoda is seen from underneath, so the roof tiers themselves become the picture.
- Near-opposite colors. Red-orange against teal is a near-complementary pairing, which makes the roofs look warmer and the sky cooler.
- Cropped close. The tight crop turns a building into a bold pattern of tiers that reads from across the room.
- Soft clouds for balance. Cream clouds break up the teal so the sky does not sit as one flat block of color.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Put it above a sofa, a reading chair or a sideboard in the living room. The teal and red-orange hold their own on a white or warm cream wall, and they sit well with rust, terracotta or deep green cushions. Try 18" x 24" beside a bookcase, or 24" x 36" as the main piece over a sofa. A natural wood frame suits the retro palette. Pair it with a small black ink landscape to calm the color on the same wall.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What colors are in the print? Mostly red-orange and turquoise teal, with cream clouds. It sits well with warm neutrals, rust and deep green.
Where in the living room should it go? Above a sofa or sideboard at 24" x 36", or beside a bookcase at 18" x 24". The upward view of the roofs also suits a narrow wall.
Does the teal clash with a gray wall? Teal sits comfortably on cool gray, and the red-orange roofs keep the pairing from going cold. On warm gray, a natural wood frame helps bridge the two.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
