A Kotor travel poster from the slope above the bay: the walled old town packed tight onto a triangle of flat ground at the water's edge, a wall of bare grey limestone rising straight up behind it, and the dark green water of the bay wrapping around on two sides.
About the artwork
Painted rather than drawn, with visible brushwork closest to the Dubrovnik print in the same series. The mountain is the mass that makes the image — a huge sunlit grey-and-ochre face taking up the whole upper third, with gullies and scree drawn as broken strokes and a band of shadow at its base that isolates the town below. The old town itself is a dense wedge of terracotta roofs and cream stone, small enough that its scale against the rock is the point. The bay is worked in bottle green and teal, darker than a Mediterranean blue, with a soft reflection of the mountain lying on it. Foreground roofs and cypresses frame the bottom corner. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Montenegro beneath. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Scale you can read instantly. A whole walled town made small by the rock behind it.
- Green water, not blue. The bay's colour is what separates Kotor from every Adriatic print.
- Brushwork you can see. Texture that keeps it from looking like flat vector art.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Deep green and grey with a terracotta accent — a muted, slightly moody palette that suits cream, olive and clay walls and looks good in a room with dark wood. It is a living room or study print more than a bright kitchen one. Espresso and walnut frames deepen it; white frames lift the greens. It hangs naturally beside the Dubrovnik and Split prints as an Adriatic trio.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Where is the view from? From the switchback path on the slope above the bay, looking down at the old town and the water.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
